Northeast Community Credit Union Keeps Children Cool During Saint Joseph School of All Saints Parish Walk-a-thon DONATED T-SHIRTS KEEP KIDS FROM SWELTERING IN NEARLY 90 DEGREE HEAT HAVERHILL, MA - In support of the second annual Walk of the Faithful Walk-a-thon, Northeast Community Credit Union provided Saint Joseph School of All Saints Parish with t-shirts. The credit union supplied the school with some 450 t-shirts, which were worn by the students and staff during their trek through the city of Haverhill.
The Walk of the Faithful is a fundraiser that provides funds for tuition aid and other unexpected year-end expenses incurred by the school. Last year’s walk provided several families with assistance toward the annual school tuition. Over $2,800 was raised this year. Two-thirds of that amount will go toward assisting families with school expenses. Students walked from the school, which is located at 56 Oak Terrace in Haverhill, through the city to Sacred Heart Church in Bradford. They then reversed their direction and returned to the school. This year’s walk was a particularly hot one. Temperatures had already risen to the mid-80’s mid-way through the walk. “We have had a relationship with Northeast Community Credit Union for quite awhile and are always thankful for the variety of ways in which they support the school,” said Carol Simone, principal of Saint Joseph School. “This year we were especially grateful for the t-shirts as it turned out to be a very hot morning.” Haverhill Mayor James Fioretini; Northeast Community Credit Union Chairman of the Board Joseph A. Cardarelli Sr.; and Northeast Community Credit Union Treasurer and CEO Peter L. Di Benedetto met the children, along with school principal Carol Simone, as they walked through Lafayette Square, past the credit union. “Northeast Community Credit Union is committed to supporting educational programs in the Greater Haverhill area,” stated the credit union’s Peter Di Benedetto. “Saint Joseph School of All Saints Parish is part of our local community and we were pleased to help them with their Walk-a-thon. With the warm temperature, the t-shirts turned out to be an appropriate contribution to the event.” Saint Joseph School of All Saints Parish was established in 1894 as a school for boys and was expanded in 1913 to include girls. The school offers programs for children from nursery school through 8th grade. Northeast Community Credit Union is a community-based credit union.
